In those times, Saruman was known as Curumo or Tarindor. Alongside another Maia named Sauron, he learned the art of creation. However, their inability to create life led to frustration, planting the seeds for Saruman's future downfall. Volunteering for Middle-earth When the Valar, the powerful beings overseeing the world, saw the threat of Sauron in Middle-earth, they sent a group of Maiar called the Istari to help. Saruman eagerly joined this mission, wanting to show his strength and serve the Valar. However, he became jealous of Gandalf, another wizard chosen for the mission.
